Define schizophrenia
A
A disorder characterised by two or more of:
Positive symptoms
- delusions
- hallucinations
- disorganised speech
Negative symptoms:
- catatonic behaviour
- reduced affect
- avolition
- anhedonia
- attention deficiency?

What is the time frame of the symptoms
A
For diagnosis, it has to continue for 1 month (active period) and also have a background of symptoms over six months

A
FH Cannabis Obstetric complications Increasing paternal age above 30 yrs Low IQ Soft motor dysfunction Migrant populations incl. second gen Stress Childhood abuse ?born in colder climates/months but this is debatable

Explain the soft neurological signs and what they correlate with
A
Gait imbalance
Tremor
Rigidity
Correlates with an increased risk over time in the severity of negative symptoms!
