PATHOGENIC
A
- S. mansoni damages the walls of the distal colon
-S. japonicum damages the walls of both the small and large intestines.
-S. hematobium induces granulomas and fibrosis in the bladder wall which can lead to carcinoma of the bladder
-After skin penetration, there is -itching and dermatitis.
Aftre 2-3 weeks, fever, chills, diarrhea and hepatosplenomegaly occurs.
-In chronic stage, there is GIT bleeding.
