What was Schaffer and Emerson’s procedure
Mothers of 60 working class Glasgow babies reported monthly on separation and stranger anxiety
What was Schaffer’s and Emerson’s findings
Babies attachment behaviour progressed as detailed in the 4 stages
How did Schaffer and Emerson’s have good external validity
Mother’s did the observation so babies weren’t stressed by being observed
However what they recorded may not of been accurate
How was there poor evidence for the asocial stage
Babies have poor co-ordination so just may seem asocial
How does the Glasgow babies study have good real world application
People can now see where the optimal time is to put their children in day care there is no harm in starting them in asocial or indiscriminate stage
