Tell us of a time you helped clear the work flow ?
Well as a student most times the team prefer to rush through and don’t want students in the way.
But I would do my best to help by looking through the worklist and seeing if there are patients I need to go ask to get changed , For example female patients for a chest or T spine if they can take there bra off and pop on a gown. Pelvis and lumbar spine will ask patients to see what type of trousers they have on and tell them if they need to change
Also go through for patients that need a lmp check and go through it with in case they will need a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy and in that case I would alert a radiographer.
And if all of this is done I would help with patsliding and cleaning.
And if the radiographer I was shadowing was comfortable with me , we would take turns alternating between , Patient ID and check positioning with the other post processing and cleaning and setting for the next patient
Tell us a time you experienced good teamwork?
We had a patient come in for CT and they were very unsettled and quite heavy . The team was working short with only 2 radiographers and me the student. Some doctors that were dealing with the case came in to see the scans and noticed we were having some trouble with the patient and came in to help us patslide. In that moment status didn’t mind everyone was just working together to get the patient on the table and get the scan done. And their help even allowed us to get the scan done faster
What would you do if a patient collapsed in the reception
First I would call for help
check for and hazards on the floor if needed
Then check if the patient is breathing if they are I will put them in recovery position and hopefully the help I called would have arrived and we can get them seen by a doctor
If they were not breathing I would start protocol for CPR and call for someone to call the crash call team
If a patient comes in for a right hand X-ray but says it’s there left what do you do ?
I would call the doctor that refereed them and check that they didn’t mistakenly put the wrong side . And have them fix their image request and resend it on the system before proceeding. When it’s been confirmed which hand it is
