18
Q

The PRA reduces the operating pressure to____psi before entering the regulators low pressure hose, the regulator then controls the pressure within the facepiece to___________.

A

100 psi

slightly above atmospheric pressure.

19
Q

What happens when there is a malfunction of the PRA’s primary system?

A
  • directs air to secondary system
  • operating pressure only reduced to 150psi
  • vibralert activates.
  • leave contaminated area & notify officer.
20
Q

What happens when both the primary and secondary systems fail in the open position?

A

-activates a relief valve in PRA which discharges all air in excess of 185psi into the atmosphere
Partially close cylinder valve, notify officer and leave contaminated area.

21
Q

What do you do if the manual shut-off on the regulator fails to release?

A

turn the purge valve down 180 degrees

notify officer and leave contaminated area

22
Q

What do you do when the regulator fails in the open position(too much air flow in facepiece)?

A

open purge valve fully and partially close cylinder valve.

notify officer and leave contaminated area

23
Q

Describe the Heads-Up -Display and what all lights indicate

A

4-rectangular lights 1-round light. all light up for 20 sec when valve turned on. round light is on far right and lights solid for 20 sec then flashes once a sec when low battery. Two green rect lights indicate full cylinder, one green=3/4 full, one slowly flashing yellow=1/2 full, rapid flashing red on far left=1/4 full

24
Q

T/F When low battery light lights up you must notify officer and leave contaminated atmosphere?

A

False the batteries have sufficient life to operate HUD longer than the longest duration cylinder.

25
Q

Regarding the Pak-Alert; if the sensor module does not sense motion for _____the Pak-Alert will signal a pre alarm condition. If there is still no motion of the ScBA for next _____ ,the full alarm will sound.

A

20 sec.

12 sec.

26
Q

How do you reset the pre-alarm?(2 ways)

A

movement or pressing and holding reset button till 3 chirps are heard and red flashing light changes to green flashing light

27
Q

What happens during full alarm and how do you reset?

A

flashes red and continuous audible alarm. reset by pressing reset button twice.

28
Q

T/F Can the manual alarm be activated when the SCBA is not pressurized?

A

True

29
Q

Can the batteries be checked when the Pak-alert is in the off condition?

A

yes by pressing and holding the reset button and seeing a red light

30
Q

T/F If you see a red light on the control console while testing the batteries you have enough battery life for the longest duration cylinder/

A

False the batteries must be replaced before SCBA could be used again

31
Q

NEW What do you do if you discover a facepiece nose cup assembly or voicemitter damaged or missing during inspection?

A

place oos, forward to MSU, letterhead report to Chief of Operations report should include: name of member discovering facepiece and name of member who last used and/ or inspected. Officer interview all members involved.

32
Q

What is the frequency of the audible tone when there is a low battery condition?

A

2 sec.

33
Q

When connecting the regulator to the facepiece, the purge valve should be in the _____ position and turn the regulator_________?

A

12 o’clock

1/4 turn clockwise

34
Q

T/F the activation of the vibralert alarm is an indication that the cylinder valve is fully open?

A

false

35
Q

T/F When donning the SCBA from a standing position, the shoulder straps are adjusted before the pre-adjusted waist straps are connected?

A

false

36
Q

T/F When donning he facepiece, hold the regulator in left hand with left thumb on the purge valve and with the headnet on the inside of the facepiece, bring the facepiece to your face without creating a seal, then grab helmet brim with right hand and take helmet over the facepiece and left hand with the chinstrap resting on left forearm?

A

true

37
Q

T/F When a member becomes entangled or trapped where they need to use an emergncy procedure(quick release, low profile, reduced profile) that member must transmit a mayday?

A

true

38
Q

When using all 3 emergency procedures, the facepiece can be left on, both shoulder straps are fully extended, the left hand grasps the left shoulder strap, the right arm goes thru the right strap and unbuckles the waist belt allowing the member to maneuver the SCBA? T/F

A

false Difference is in the reduced profile maneuver. in this maneuver,ONLY the RIGHT shoulder strap is extended and the waist buckle is not removed. The left hand will also move to the bumper and the right hand grasps the waist buckle twisting the assembly. Left hand does not let go of the left shoulder strap in the low profile and quick release.

39
Q

When performing the swim move, which side of your body do you lead with?

A

right

40
Q

If the facepiece becomes damaged while operating, the only way to control the leak is to press the manual shut off switch after each breath? T/F

A

false, you can cover the facepiece with one hand unless leak cant be controlled then use the manual shut off switch if area is too large for that then use the purge valve in an on and off motion for each breath.

41
Q

T/F Members can share facepieces in an extreme emergency ?

A

False prohibited

42
Q

T/F The Fast-Pak can be used on civilians?

A

true just not fast trucks fast-pak

43
Q

When should a member notify the Incident Commander upon hearing a pass alarm that has been activated in the full cycle?

A

10 seconds after activation
