  1. Be respectful to other people, and treat them the way you want to be treated, as people can be affected by words we write and say.

2.When speaking or texting a message beware of strong language, as people may interpret this behaviour as rude or confusion.

  1. Be careful with humor and sarcasm on the job. Use such appropriately so it cannot be mistaken as a rude remark or unprofessional. Make it clear that it’s for comedic purposes, however it’s wise to keep emojis and emoticons away from academic papers.

4.Use correct spelling and grammar for proper communication and to be professional. Shortcuts and grammar mistakes should be used for social media platforms.

5.Citing your sources and informing people of where you got your information makes you sound credible and honest.

6.Do not share anything private or inappropriate on the internet because nothing is truly private.

7.Be forgiving to those who do not know these rules and try to understand people’s struggles in communications.
