A

Psychodynamic approach

  • freud was one of the psychologists who emphasised on study of anxiety
  • psychodynamic theory = neurotic anxiety arises from conflict between id, ego and superego
  • id consists of all biological primitive impressions based on pleasure principle
  • superego is based on the moral principle and focuses on right/wrong as per society
  • ego takes into account the instinctive sexual and aggressive urges and the morality related to them. it bridges the gap between id and superego. it works on the reality principle
