Scapular Muscle Structure Info Flashcards
deltoid attachments
from the clavicle, acromion, and spine of scapula to the deltoid tuberosity of humerus
deltoid actions
-flexion and medial rotation (anterior)
-abduction (primarily middle)
-extension & lateral rotation, horizontal extension (posterior) of humerus
deltoid innervation
axillary nerve
supraspinatus attachments
from the medial 2/3 of supraspinous fossa to the superior facet of the greater tubercle of the humerus & to shoulder joint capsule
supraspinatus actions
-initiates humeral abduction
-laterally rotates humerus
-stabilizes glenohumeral joint (reinforces superior aspect of joint capsule)
supraspinatus innervation
suprascapular nerve
infraspinatus attachments
from the medial 2/3 of infraspinous fossa to the middle facet of the greater tubercle of the humers & to shoulder joint capsule
infraspinatus actions
-lateral rotation of humerus
-stabilizes glenohumeral joint
infraspinatus innervation
suprascapular nerve
teres minor attachments
from the upper 2/3 of the dorsal surface of the lateral border of the scapula to the inferior facet of the greater tubercle of the humerus and to shoulder joint capsule
teres minor actions
-lateral rotation of humerus
-stabilizes glenohumeral joint
teres minor innervation
axillary nerve
subscapularis attachments
from the subscapular fossa to the lesser tubercle of the humerus
subscapularis actions
-medial rotation of humerus
-stabilizes glenohumeral joint
subscapularis innervation
upper and lower subscapular nerves
