Define Scaling.
It refers to the enlarging or reducing of the sizings or measurements of a drawing using architect’s scale.
What is the purpose of scaling up or enlarging the measurements of a drawing?
For all required details to be clearly visible.
What is the purpose of scaling down or reducing the measurements of a drawing?
For the drawing to fit onto the page or paper.
Explain how to scale up (Ex. 2:1, 5:1).
Multiply the original measurements by the value on the left side of the scale. The product is what measurement is to be drawn.
Explain how to scale down (Ex. 1:2, 1:5).
Divide the original measurements by the value on the right side of the scale. The quotient is what measurement is to be drawn.
Define Title Block.
It is a distinguishing trait of technical drawings. It is normally placed in the bottom right of the drawing frame.
Enumerate the information/factors that are contained under the “Title Block”
- The name of the company or organization.
- The title of the drawing.
- The drawing number.
- The scale.
- The angle of projection used.
- The signature or initials of the draftsman, checker, approving officer, and issuing officer, with the respective dates.
- Other information.
Define Borderline.
A rectangular line drawn around a drafting page. It has an offset from the edge of the page in all directions.
