A
Validated scacle used to quantitate desired level of sedation when titrating sedatives for agitated patients.

What is the procedure for performing RASS?
A
- on observation, pt is alert, restless or agitated - score 0-+4
- If not alert; test verbal attention and ability to look at, shortly focus on or move/briefly open but no contact eyes. Score -3 to -1.
- If no response to verbal stimuli, shake shoulder or sternal rub. - -5 to -4.
