Q

What are modes

A

Scale forms, based around the major scale. They were the pre-cursor to modern key signatures. Like other scale, modes have patterns and structures that establish their unique sound.
In their simplest form, modes are built on the white notes of the piano, each mode starting on the unique scale degree.
