sB1h enzyme activity Flashcards
describe the effect of temp on enzyme activity
increase temp - activity of the enzyme ( rate of reaction gets faster)
past the optimum - activity of enzymes go rapidly down to 0 because HIGH TEMP - enzymes vibrate - shape of active site changes, substrate doesn’t fit, active site denatured ( no longer catalyse the reaction)
effect of substrate concentration on enzyme activity
low substare concentration - free active sites
too much substrate - all active sites filled, no free active sites to increase the rate of reaction
effect of pH on enzyme activity
pH more acidic or alkaline - activity down to 0 ( active site denatures )
what is optimum pH temp of an enzyme
enzyme fastest possible rate, maximum frequency of collision between enzyme and substrate
