Irony
When someone says one thing but means another
Verbal Irony
describes an event that’s not just surprising but actually contrary to what we expected
Situational Irony
When we know what is in store for a character but the character does not know, and we read to see how the character reacts
Dramatic Irony
Presents a serious subject frivolously, reducing everything to its lowest levels
Travesty
ridiculous exaggeration achieved through a variety of ways the sublime may be absurd honest emotions may be turned into sentimentality

in comedy there are no villians and no innocent victims, everyone is a knave

a deliberate mispronunciation of a name or term with the intent of poking fun
