Section 7
If you have reasonable ground to suspecta person is:
unlawfully at large
And
Believe that the person is in a place or vehicle
You may:
Enter that place or vehicle without a warrant to search for an arrest that person.
Section 9
If you have reasonable ground me to suspect that a person is:
Unlawfully at large
Or
Has committed an offence punishable by imprisonment
And
You have reasonable grounds to believe the person is in or on a vehicle
You may:
Stop the vehicle without warrant to arrest the person.
Section 10
If exercising power under S9 you may:
Require any person inside the vehicle to supply their name, address and DOB if you have reasonable grounds to suspect:
They are unlawfully at large
Or
They have committed an offence punishable by imprisonment
Search the vehicle to locate the person in S9. If RGTB they are in the vehicle.
Search the vehicle to located property that is evidential material in relation to any offence in respect of why the vehicle was stopped under S9, if the person in S9 has been arrested or is seen fleeing from the vehicle.
Section 14
If you have RGTS in a place or vehicle:
An offence is or is going to be committed that would
• cause injury to any person
• serious damage to or serious loos of any property
Or
• there is a risk to life or safety that requires an emergency response
You may:
• enter the place or vehicle
And
• take any action you RGTB is necessary to prevent the offending or to avert the emergency.
Section 18
18 Firearms
If you have RGTS a person has firearms with them or under their control and
• is in breach of the Arms Act 1983
• has a protection order
• has a PSO against them
• persons mental or physical condition is incapable of having proper control or may kill or cause bodily injury
You may do any or all:
• search the person
• search anything in their possession (including a vehicle)
• enter a place to search
- the person
- anything in their possession (including a vehicle)
• seize and detain any arms found
• seize and detain the persons firearms license.
Section 20
20 Drugs
If you have RGTB in a place or vehicle:
• controlled drug or precursor substance
And
• RGTB not reasonable to obtain a warrant
And
RGTS in the place or vehicle an offence against MODA 1975
- has been committed
- is being committed
- is about to be committed
And
RGTB if entry and search not done immediately CADD will occur
Then you may:
Enter and search that place or vehicle without warrant.
Section 21
S20’s friend
If you conduct a place or vehicle search under S20 you may:
• search any person found in or any the place or vehicle without a warrant.
Section 22
S20 for people
If you have RGTB a person is in possession of a drug and
• you have RGTS an offence against MODA
- has been committed
- is being committed
- is about to be committed
You may without warrant:
Search the person
Section 27
S27 Offensive Weapons
If you have RGTS that:
• a person is carrying an offensive weapon in a public place
You may:
• Search the person without warrant
Section 28
S28 Vehicle Offensive Weapons
If you have RGTS that:
A person travelling in a vehicle or who has exited a vehicle is committing an offence against 202A Crimes Act
And
The vehicle contains a knife, offensive weapons or disabling substance
You may:
Search the vehicle without warrant.
Section 30
S30 Warrantless Road Blocks
If a Sergeant or Acting Sergeant has RGTB in or on a vehicle is a person they have RGTS has
Committed an offence punishable by a term of imprisonment
Or
Is unlawfully at large
And
Has RGTS the vehicle will travel past the roadblock
And
Is satisfied safety to all road users will be ensured
Then the Sergeant or acting sergeant may authorise the establishment of a road block to arrest the person.
Section 32
S32 Authorised Road Blocks
When a road block is authorised under S30 you may:
Establish the roadblock
Stop any vehicle
Require any person you have RGTS has committed an offence punishable by imprisonment to state FFOND.
Search any vehicle you have RGTB the person is in.
Section 110
S110 Powers when searching
Every search power authorises you to:
Enter and search
Request assurance
Use reasonable force
Seize
Bring and use a dog
Copy
Use reasonable measures
Copy
Take
Section 116
S116 Secure the search
(1)(a) - If you are carrying out a search you may:
Secure the place and anything in it
(1)(b) - If you believe a person will obstruct or hinder any of the above actions you may exclude any person from the place or area until the search is completed

If you’re exercising a search and any person requested it you must:
Provide RAIN
Section 118
S118 Detain for vehicle or place search
If e cursing a search power on a place or vehicle
And
You need to determine connection between a person at the place or in the vehicle and the object of the search then you may:
Detain any person who:
Is in that place or vehicle or who arrives during the search.
