Who may apply to CalFresh?

• A head of household

- Any other responsible household member

Question 2

Authorized Representative (AR)

Answer 2

• individuals or organizations designated by customers to act on their behalf when the head of household(HOH) or their spouse is unable to apply for CF
• AR is designated by the HOH, his or her spouse or any responsible household member. Must be designated in writing forms DPA 19 or CSF 64(in CalWIN)
• can be excluded household member or non-household member
• AR can be allowed to be a card holder customer can request on SAWS 2 plus form
• AR’s are held liable for any over issuance (should be trusted by the family and know relevant information about household composition, income, and resources)
• AR’s identity must be verified and imaged at intake
• AR can: apply for CalFresh benefits and attend the interview, obtain EBT card and use card EBT card and access the EBT benefits

Ex: adult children of elderly individuals or some community based organizations(CBO’s) such as Feeding America
