Statutory Authority and Responsibility
The Coast Guard shall establish maintain and operate SAR facilities and may render aid to distressed persons and protect and save property on and under the high seas and waters subject to the jurisdiction of the US
General salvage policy
When commercial salvors are on scene performing salvage CG units may assist if salvor request. Any salvage shall be directed by CO OINC
