Q

During WTR in the hover, what FD modes will be present on the FD eyebrow?

A

RHT | WTR | WTR

17
Q

The default reference height and speed for TD is 200ft RA, 80 Kts IAS. How can these be adjusted?

A

Through pressing the CLTV FTR for altitude or the CYCLIC FTR for speed. The current height and speed will be captured.

18
Q

During TD/H, how can the reference height be adjusted?

A

Collective beep switch or by pressing the CLTV FTR button to capture the current RA height.

19
Q

What modes will be present on the FD ‘eyebrow’ from when TU is engaged through to acheiving 200ft RA and 80 Kts IAS?

A

Engage: TU | TU | TU
200ft: RHT | TU | TU
60KIAS: RHT | TU | HDG
80KIAS: RHT | IAS | HDG

20
Q

During TU, what are the rates of climb between 0 - 25 Kts GS and then 25 - 60 Kts GS?

A

200fpm then 750fpm respectively.

21
Q

What distance is the FHAF from the target waypoint?

22
Q

What is the minimum height for hoist training during auto hover over water?

23
Q

What is the minimum crew for SARA ops?

A

2 pilots recent for SARA and IFR flight and 1 ACO recent for SARA.

24
Q

GMAP1 is used for?

A

Maritime surface contacts.

25
GMAP2 Is used for?
Terrain approach
26
Before reaching 15 nm from the target, or as soon as possible after the overwater position-fix if the target is closer than 15nm, the aircraft shall conduct a radar target validation. What is this?
Confirming that no obstacles (vessels or land) are present within 5nm ahead of the AC and 90 degrees on either side of the let-down track.
27
Once established at the search altitude and in sight of ground or water, what is the minimum lateral clearance from obstacles?
0.5nm if not visual with obstacle. May be less if visual.
28
Qualified NVIS crews conducting overwater SAR may operate to SARA minima (300ft/1500m) if the following restrictions are applied? (MCCCEARS)
1) no cloud <300ft ASL, vis no less than 1500m through NVIS 2) min 2 pilots, 1 crew 3) current OPNC both pilots 4) current IPC both pilots 5) current G1 NVIS both pilots 6) 20hrs NVIS (all crew) 7) AC CASA approval for SARA, IFR & NVIS 8) Risk Assessment completed 9) Spare set of NVIS carried
29
During autohover ops, if both RADALT fail, what happens to RHT mode?
ALT engages after 5 seconds.
30
When TD/H is selected, what modes will be present on the FD?
TDH| TDH | TDH
31
During TDH, below what speed does the collective heading trim become available?
60 KIAS
32
When must an immersion suit be worn?
Sea Temp < 15 Air Temp < 10 Or combined sea and air temp < 31
33
Night SARA recency requirement?
1 every 60 days
34
SARA recency for conduct in IMC?
1 in the past 60 days (day or night)
35
What is the recommended screen config for the PF & PM for SAR A?
PF: PFD as req | MFD radar PM: PFD TAWS | MFD radar
36
If night SARA lapses, what must a pilot do to regain night SARA currency?
Must carry out 1 SARA by DAY in the PREVIOUS 7 DAYS before attempting the night SARA sequence.
37
For a SARA procedure to count for recency, what must be completed?
1) Initial descent from LSALT to termination in a hover 2) Hoist or hover trim maneuvers 3) TU up to at least search height
38
With regard to RADAR and clearances, how should turns greater than 60 degrees be performed?
In stages, to ensure clearance of radar blind arcs.
39
For a TD/H, what is an approximate distance and GS combo to base the engagement time of TD/H to arrive at the intended position?
0.6nm and 60kt GS. It is better to undershoot and just engage and release the FTR on the cyclic to capture the current speed and drive the AC forward on the trims.
