Sampling techniques Flashcards
1
Q
What are the 5 samplying techniques
A
Stratified
Opportunity
Voluenteer
Systematic
Random
2
Q
What is a target population?
A
Every member of the group the investigator aims to study
3
Q
What is systematic samplying?
A
Chosen every nth number
4
Q
What is stratified samplying?
A
Using subgroups created within target population (intelligence) (IQ)
Then use random samplying to aquire a selected number from each subgroup
5
Q
Strengths of Stratified samplying?
A
Produces a representative sample which can be generalised to target population
It also avoids researcher bias
6
Q
Limitation of Stratified samplying
A
-Includes BIAS of generating what subgroups are important to research
-Time consuming
