Sampling Methods Flashcards

1
Q

A

Use random number generator and pick number assigned

If repeats, pick again

Time consuming for large sample frames

Q

A

Picking data at regular intervals

If there was a fault at every same interval, introduces bias.

Q

Stratified Samping

A

Splitting sample frame into stratas (smaller groups), Then systematically or random sampling.

Strata/ Total Sample x Number of individuals that you want

Expensive and time consuming to split into groups, optimum for picking based on ideal characteristics

Q

Quota Sampling

A

Dividing sample frame into stratas (groups) and then using opportunity sampling (Picking based on convenience until you reached the number of individuals needed known as the quota)

Very biased
