Q

What is stratified sampling?

A

Works out the different types of people that make up their target population and then works out proportions for it to be representative

Q

What is systematic sampling?

A

every nth individual is selected from a list or sequence to form a sample

If you take every nth name, you will get a systematic sample of the correct size. If, for example, you wanted to sample 150 children from a school of 1,500, you would take every 10th name.

difficult to achieve (time,effort,money)

Q

The advantage and disadvantage of stratified sampling?

A

Highly representative of target population so generalisable

Gathering such a sample would be really time consuming to do

Q

The advantage and disadvantage of opportunity sampling?

A

Quick and easy

May not provide a representative sample and could show bias

Q

The advantage and disadvantage of systematic sampling?

A

Should provide a representative sample

it is very difficult to achieve (time effort money)
