Sampling, Data Presentation and Interpretation (C11) Flashcards
What is simple random sampling?
1) Every item in the population has an equal chance of being in the sample.
What is systematic sampling?
1) Selects the nth member from the population your investigating.
What is stratified sampling?
1) The population is divided into categories with the same proportion of the sample as the overall population for each group.
2) Find number needed in each category using:
(size of category in pop/total size of pop) X total sample size.
What is opportunity sampling?
1) You choose members of the population which are easiest to sample.
What is cluster sampling?
1) This is sampling where you can divide the population into distinct groups before sampling.
What is self-selection sampling?
1) This is where people choose to be part of the sample.
