Population
Entire group of individuals we want information about
Census
Collects data from every individual in the population
Sample
Subset of individuals in the population from which we actually collect data
Simple Random Sample
Every set of individuals has an equal chance to be in the sample actually selected
SRS includes

Experiment
Applies a treatment to one part of The experimental group and no treatment in the other part of the group
Stimulation

Stratified sampling
Subdivide the entire population at least two different subpopulations and then use some method to draw a sample from each sub population
Cluster sample
Classified population into groups of individuals that are located near each other

Bias that occurs because of how we select our sample
