How was sampling done pre 1980’s?
A
- Reel-to-reel tape loops,
- Splicing small pieces of tape together
- Tape replay keyboards (Mellotron/ Chamberlin)

What were samplers like during the 70’s/80’s?
A
- Early digital tehcnology
- Limited memory/storage space, so Shorter samples/Shorter sample rate/bit depth to keep file sizes small
