Integrated Solutions vs Managed Packages

A

Integrated Solutions are built natively into Salesforce, these include NonProfit Cloud and Grant Making for NonProfit Cloud

Managed packages are sets of custom objects, helpful features, and ready-to-use configurations that you install on top of your Salesforce instance. One example is Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), which we discuss in the next unit.

A

To write off all scheduled payments at once, click the Show Actions button in the Payments related list header and select Write Off Payments.

17
Q

Does the opportunity stage update when all scheduled payments have been written off?

A

While you can set NPSP to automatically change the status of an opportunity where all the payments are marked as Paid, that doesn’t happen when a payment has been written off. You’ll have to update the opportunity stage manually.

18
Q

Which NPSP object allows you to define regular installments for multiple objects over time?

A

The Recurring Donation Object allows you to define regular installments for multiple donations over time

19
Q

What are the two kinds of recurring donations that NPSP supports?

A
  1. Open Ended - While you can set NPSP to automatically change the status of an opportunity where all the payments are marked as Paid, that doesn’t happen when a payment has been written off. You’ll have to update the opportunity stage manually.
  2. Fixed Length - are a single donation amount given at regular intervals for a defined period. For example, if the company Cloud Kicks decides to give $10,000 split into four quarterly payments, the recurring donation would end after those payments
20
Q

How can a Recurring Donation be Paused?

A

Navigate to the recurring donation record and click the pause button. Then select which installments will be paused and note the reason.

21
Q

What is fund accounting and what are GAUs?

A

Many non profits use fund accounting and GAUs (General Accounting Units) to track donations. A GAU is a fund used to set money aside for a specific purpose, such as meeting donor restrictions

22
Q

What do the GAU allocation features allow you to accomplish in the NPSP

A

The GAU allocation features in Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) give you the ability to split gifts and revenue tracked in opportunity records between one or more GAUs. You can also assign allocations to campaigns and recurring donations, and all the opportunities related to those records will inherit the same GAU allocations.

23
Q

How to manage allocations for an Opportunity record?

A
  1. Navigate to the Related tab on an Opportunity record
  2. Click Manage Allocations button for the GAU related list
  3. Select a GAU, and then the appropriate amount or percentage of an opportunity amount that should go to that GAU
24
Q

How many GAUs can you define?

A

You can define as many GAUs as needed to match your chart of accounts

25
Q

How can you see the total amount that has been allocated to a GAU?

A

Each GAU contains a roll up field that can be used to see the total allocation amount

26
Q

Which objects can GAUs be allocated to?

A

Opportunities, recurring donations, and campaigns

27
Q

What happens when an allocation is assigned to a campaign?

A

When you assign allocations to a campaign, any opportunities or related payments created as part of that campaign will also automatically receive those allocations.

28
Q

What happens if a new opportunity is added to a recurring donation with allocations?

A

New opportunities created as part of a recurring donation automatically receive the recurring donation’s allocations.

29
Q

What happens if allocations on a campaign are modified, deleted or added?

A

The changes will only affect new opportunities created as part of a campaign and not opportunities previously created

30
Q

If an Opportunity has a recurring donation and a campaign, which allocations will be used

A

The recurring donation’s allocations will be used

31
Q

How can you send a thank you acknowledgment to one opportunity record?

A

You can email an acknowledgment to a donor directly from the opportunity record by selecting the Email Acknowledgment quick action.

32

How to send acknowledgement emails to multiple opportunity records at once

A

You can also send acknowledgment emails for multiple opportunity records at once by selecting the opportunities you want to acknowledge in the To Be Acknowledged list view and clicking Email Acknowledgments.

33
Q

How can you create printed acknowledgement letters?

A

If you want to create printed acknowledgment letters, you can use a document generation app from the Salesforce AppExchange or run a report and use the exported data for a mail merge in a word processing application.
