Do you cover dietary requirements?
Yes, 20% of our dishes are vegetarian. We also offer vegan and halal options.
What’s the price range?
- Breakfast options are around $6
- Drinks are around $2
- Full meals are around $10
Where is the food made?
- Our meals are made by our local kitchen partners.
- In a federally inspected highest grade kitchen environment.
Is the packaging recyclable?
- Yes. The container is 100% recyclable.
- We also have a custom recyclable bin which makes it easy for admins to recycle.
Why are you using aluminum containers?
Hot meals are cooked directly inside the containers.
How does payment work?
- The fridge is normally locked, and unlocks after you tap your credit card or scan a QR code with the KitchenMate App, which also has your credit card stored.
- The fridge also has AI based cameras installed inside which is capable of seeing what you’ve taken out.
- Once the door is closed, the credit card that was used to unlock the fridge will be charged.
What if I put something back?
- The AI cameras are smart enough to know if you put something back. Similar to how the Amazon Go store works.
- It won’t charge you for that.
Do you store my credit card information?
We use Stripe to handle all our payments, we don’t store your actual credit card information.
How do people know about promotions and weekly specials?
- Prices are displayed on our ePaper product labels.
- If there is a promotion or sale, the ePapers are digitally updated and will show the sale.
- Promotions and subsidies are also shown on the app.
How does it Auto cook?
- Each dish has a unique cooking program that is carefully calibrated by our chefs.
- This programs controls how much heat to add into the food and how fast to raise the temp, and for how long it needs stay at that temp.
- This way every ingredient is cooked perfectly.
How does it heat the food?
The cookers use induction to heat up the container and controls the amount of heat to add precisely.
How does it know what dish it is?
- Every dish has a unique QR code on it.
- The cookers can read this barcode and know which cooking program to use.
Can I put my own food in the cooker?
- The cookers are designed to only turn on for our meal containers.
- Please continue to use existing appliances to heat your food.
How do I know which meal is mine?
- We recommend that you remember which cooker you placed your meal into by the cooker letter.
- The tablet will also say the name of person who started cooking the meal.
What happens if the food is expired?
- We try our best to take back any expired meals when we restock the fridge.
- Incase any expired meals are left over, and you tried to take it out. Our AI cameras is smart enough to warn you about it.
- The cookers will also not cook expired meals.
What happens if there is a recall?
- We can issue a digital recall to all products that contain suspicious ingredients and warn you when you try to take it out of the fridge.
- Cookers will not cook any recalled meals.
Can I microwave the meals?
- Our meals are not designed to be cooked in a Microwave.
- Some microwaves are not able to warm up metalic containers.
- If you need to reheat your meal, please plate first before putting it into a microwave.
What does the app do?
- You can see the latest inventory count in the physical fridge on the app.
- Enter dietary restrictions you may have, and the menu is filtered.
- View detailed ingredient list
- View full nutrition facts, and recommended daily intake based on your profile.
- View reviews from others in your location.
- Track your order history in a journal. In the future, we’re working on integrating this into popular apps.

How do I earn points?
You can earn points by eating meals.
What do I use points for?
Exchange for food.
I don’t have the app, can I still earn points?
No, you do need the app to earn points.
How does the referral program work?
You get 2,000 points every time you refer a new teammate. They will get $6.
How is KitchenMate better than food delivery?
- We are much more affordable, because
- We deliver in bulk instead of one meal at a time.
- We use minimum packaging.
- We don’t have expensive retail stores.
- We are much faster, from the time they order to eat.
- We offer full nutrition information.
- We minimize elevator use and in and out traffic.
- Our food is made in federally inspected kitchens.

How does KitchenMate compare to catering?
- Catering is great if everyone is to eat all at the same time
- KitchenMate is designed to be a more flexible eating option where smaller groups can eat at the same time.
- Catering often produces lots of waste since it’s hard to predict how much food to prepare and everyone’s taste preferences are different.
- KitchenMate is cooking on demand, and since the prediction is over a longer period of time, and we look at individuals preferences, we have much less waste.

- We service offices in all sectors: tech, engineering, marketing, cpg etc.
- We also service distribution centres, warehouses for national retailers
- During the pandemic we’ve also been helping front line workers at some of the biggest hospitals in Toronto.
How many cookers do you have out there?
We have hundreds of cookers in the field in the GTA.

How big is this setup?
- The fridge takes up 750mm x 750mm (or 2.5x2.5feet)
- A single kiosk takes up 400mm x 400mm.
- Two kiosks towers take up 800mm x 400mm.
How much power does it need?
- the fridge uses 1.8 kWatt/day
- the cookers uses 400watts the entire tower can be plugged into single outlet
Does it produce noise?
- The fridge produces very little noise. When the compressor is on it will produce a bit of noise but it’s similar to the fridge at home.
- The cookers fan makes a tiny bit of noise after the meal is finished cooking.
Does it produce any smell?
- The meals are cooked inside the container and mostly sealed.
- The smell released is subtle and pleasant.
How is it theft-proof?
- The fridge door is normally locked.
- It open unlock when people tap their credit card or scans the QR on their app.
- The AI cameras keeps track of everything they’ve taken out.
- This way, we can always associate the order to the person.
What if they cover the product label with something?
- The AI cameras uses the product label, if that is covered completely then we won’t know what they’ve taken out but we will still know who.
- We will manually review transactions where the AI camera failed to recognize the items, and flag any suspicious activities.
- Malicious users will be banned from using the system, and we will place at least a $50 charge on their credit card.
How does fridge restocking work?
- Our normal delivery schedule is Monday morning and optionally on Wednesday morning.
- A delivery driver will come into your building with a dolly carrying boxes of meals and drinks.
- They will put any expired meals into a box, and then refill the fridge with this weeks menu.
How is it tailored to the location?
- It is important for us that we only deliver what people will eat.
- Our forecasting software is looking at individual’s preferences and creating an aggregated menu for the following week.
Do I have a say on what goes into the fridge?
- Yes, you can place an order for the meals you want us to ship a head of time.
- If you don’t place an order, we will stock the fridge automatically.
- Users can vote on the dishes they want on the menu for next week in the app.
What if our corporation have ingredients policy?
We can setup banned ingredients in the system and we’ll avoid shipping any dishes that contain those ingredients.
Who do I contact if there is an issue?
- For account changes, billing etc contact your account manager.
- For user experience related issues, can use our regular support.
How do I setup a custom employee subsidy?
Subsidies can be added or modified anytime. Talk to your account manager and they can implement this for you.
How does billing work?
- We will send you an invoice on the 2nd of every month for the previous month service fee and meal subsidies.
- If you added a corporate credit card on file, and automated billing. Your credit card will be charged on the 8th.

Can I have tax benefits?
Yes you can if you subsidize the meals regularly. We can produce a report for your accounting department
How do I know who is using the service?
We provide a detailed live report of the program in our web app.
How do I know what people thinks of the service?
Included in your account dashboard is an average review rating.
Does the equipment have the required certifications?
- Yes, all of our equipment are certified.
- We can send you the certification information.
