This is extra!! protection for the consumer. He can choose to have the goods fixed by the manufacturer under the guarantee or insist the retailer follows the law.

It is illegal for a retailer to display signs such as ‘no refund’ or ‘credit notes only’
Credit note
It’s a written document that gives you permission to spend a certain amount in that shop only. It doesn’t have to be accepted.
