Running Rigging
The controlling line for the mainsail
Mainsheet
The controlling line for the jib sail
Jibsheet
A block and tackle system which pulls the Boom down to assist sail control
Vang - Boom and Leech
The line running through a grommet about eight inches up from the tack of a mainsail that is used to tighten the luff of the sail
Cunningham - Luff and Draft
The controlling line attached to the clew of a mainsail used to tension the foot of the sail
Outhaul - Foot and Draft
The after edge of a sail
Leech
1 - the forward edge of a sail. 2- the fluttering of a sail caused by aiming too close to the wind
Luff
The depth of a boat’s keel from the water’s surface
Draft
The bottom edge of a sail
