Six Principles of IDEA

FAPE
Schools must educate all children with disabilities regardless of the nature or severity of the disability. Principle of IDEA
Zero Reject
Children with disabilities must be educated with their peers without disabilities to the maximum extent appropriate. Principle of IDEA
LRE
Schools must protect the rights of students with disabilities. Principle of IDEA
Due Process
Non-biased, multi-factored methods of evaluation to determine whether a child has a disability and if so, whether special education is needed. Principle of IDEA

Preventive
Special education that attempts to eliminate the effects of a disability through instruction
Remedial
