trips and falls
occur when someone loses balance due to colliding with an unseen object or an uneven surface and stumbles; number one cause of accidents
landslides
falling of stacked papers, boxes, files, and more in an office
back strain
hurting and putting stress on your back; occurs when proper posture, sitting, or lifting techniques are not used
lifting procedures
use leg muscles, not back muscles, to perform tasks, hold a heavy load in front of you at waist height and close to your body, do not stoop—-bend (squat), and ask for help if the load is too heavy
equipment safety
precautions taken to ensure safe and correct use of equipment; be careful of jamming printers, turn off the power on the machine and unplug it when a machine does not work, etc.
electrical shock
high-voltage shock is carried throughout the body and can cause injury/death (occurs if the machine is not properly grounded or wires are exposed)
fire safety
do not mix a heat source, fuel, and oxygen
computer safety
using a computer in proper surroundings, not creating stress online, and being careful with your information online; monitor is the most dangerous part of a computer
eye strain
results from being in front of a digital screen for too long or bright surroundings
psychological stress
pressures in the office create a strain on your well-being and happiness; can cause accidents.
bad neighborhoods
unsafe and unreliable websites; try to steal personal information or scam you
social networks
platforms used to socially interact and communicate online
internet
global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols
online purchases
things bought online
phishing
sending bad emails to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers
cyber-bullying
threatening or intimidating someone through electronic communication
username
identification used by a person with access to a computer, network, or online service
password
list of unique characters/phrases that allows access to a computer system or service
identity theft
someone pretending to be you online for gain (mainly financially related)
personal information
birthday, social security number, address, age, school, etc.
chat rooms
anonymous place for people to meet and communicate about a specific topic online

Who- Who is the author of the website?
What- What information does the website give?
When- When was the site created?
Where- Where did the author get his/her information?
Why- Why should I use this web page?
used to check credibility
criteria
standard by which something may be judged or decided; characteristics or qualities of a website
domain
extension of a website; .gov (info), .com (sell), .edu (school, info), etc.
URL
uniform resource locator; web address
authority
whether or not an author of a website is an expert
accuracy
whether or not the website has correct and researched information; is it verifiable?
objectivity
bias; whether or not the website is opinionated; perspective of website
contact information
how to get in touch with a website; phone number, email, etc.
return policy
documentation of a verifiable process of a customer taking previously purchased merchandise back to the retailer, and in turn receiving a refund in the original form of payment, exchange for another item, or a store credit
currency
whether or not a website is up-to-date; should be updated 3-6 months ago
privacy policy
statement/legal document that discloses if or how the site is going to share your information with other people
terms of service
protects company; tells customers what will be legally required of them if they use the service
