Highway Safety
Crossover only if traffic stopped
Remain on incident side
Create and Barrier
Wear Vests, open lanes safely after Ops completed
Atmosphere Monitoring
Wear SCBA on all fires, and IDLH
SCBA removed when <4.7 ppm HCN, <35ppm CO, 19-23.5% O2, <10%LEL
On-Duty Injury
- Safety Chief will be notified. (respond if significant, involves equipment, PPE, violation of policy) Will report to location for all on-duty inj.
- Complete 44.4 and forward w/in 24hrs (original to Safety Office, copy to MSO)
- Assigned an (on-duty injury) ODI#
Safety issues with facilities, apparatus, equipment, PPE -No Injuries
Notify on duty SAFO (Will notify BFC, Deputy OPS)
Report to location, identify issue, impound equipment, request SR
SAFO with BFC and Deputy will take action to correct or abate hazard
All info in written report emailed to DFC – Risk Management and copied to the DFC-Operations, AFC-Services, and AFC-Operations no later than the end of the shift
Minimum PPE for incidents
Full -IDLH/fires, A/A +vests, Metro, Unknows i.e. confined space, collapse, HazMat
Rope Rescue – Helmet, gloves
No PPE w/in 20 feet of water, PFD w/in 10
Responsibilities to stop unsafe acts
Order, remove (ask, tell, help) MPD, BFC
Personnel Accountability Procedures
Level 1 Assuming duty with tags on UDC, may use dept ID in lieu w/ journal entry. If lost submit SR
Level 2 All UDCs collected and delivered to CMD post
Level 3 entry control point(s)
Infection Control
BSI, Notification to IC and form 44 w/in 24hrs
Post Fire Decon
SCBA until deconned, gross debris removal, rinse with solution, swap out PPE, shower.
