(Safety Fundamentals) Flashcards
What is ORM and what’s the process?
Operational Risk Management. Tool used to increase operational effectiveness by anticipating problems and reducing the possible loss, therefore increasing the probability of a successful mission.
What are the four principles of RM (Risk Management)?
(3AM)
1. Accept Risk When Benefits Outweigh the Cost
2. Accept No Unnecessary Risk
3. Anticipate and Manage Risk by Planning
4. Make Risk Decisions at the Right Level
What are the three levels of RM (Risk Management)?
(IDT)
1. In-depth level
2. Deliberate level
3. Time Critical
Define In-depth level?
When time for planning is not a limiting factor and involves thorough risk assessments.
Define deliberate level?
There is ample time to apply RM process to mission planning.
Define Time Critical?
Operates on a daily basis, there is little to no time to make a plan resulting in an “on the spot” review of a situation.
What are the five steps of RM (Risk Management)
(IAMIS)
1. Identify Hazard
2. Assess Hazard
3. Make Risk Decision
4. Implement Control
5. Supervise
What PPE are requirements?
(HHEF)
1. Head
2. Hearing
3. Eye
4. Foot
Define Hazardous Material?
A material because of its quantity, concentration, physical, or chemical concentration, may pose a hazard.
Define Hazardous Waste?
Any discarded material which meets the definition of HM, Environmental Protection Agency, or State Authority.
What information is contain on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)?
Information about certain materials/products. Procedures on how to use them correctly, properly discard, and what to do if an accident has occurred.
What is MSDS?
Material Safety Data Sheet
