Q

Anti-Col Lights- 2 plus 2 rule and cautions with UV filter.

A

Don’t look at light at a distance of less than 2m.
Ensure power is removed for at least 2 minutes before starting maintenance.
Allow to cool before starting maintenance.
Don’t switch on light without the UV filter on.

Q

Beacon Airfoil Unit- Precautions

A

Do not go into area 1.2m around BAU.
If working in the area, the BAU must be disconnected.
Care must be taken when working on the BAU as release, shock or damage can cause it to transmit.
Do not press the EAS deploy button in the cockpit (as there is continuous standby power supplies to the system).
Ensure the manual release handle wire locking is attached correctly.

Q

Systems containing EIED’S and precautions when handling.

A

Fire bottle x8, flotation system x4, ADS winch x1, rescue hoist x1 and BARU x1.
Don’t remove from container unless you are ready to install it.
Put into container immediately after removing from the system.
Don’t touch the terminals, contacts or cables
Ensure you are not in the danger area for radio/ radar transmission.
Shorting plug should not be removed until immediately before being connected.
Carry out no-volts test prior to connection.
Wear correct PPE (goggles, hearing protectors and electro static discharge ground straps)

16
Q

EO/IR- Safety distance, undemanded movement and precautions.

A

1.13m from FMV antenna.
Turret may rotate for 15seconds during power up.
Ensure no body part or loose clothing becomes trapped.
Isolate the power to the system to prevent undemanded movement during maintenance.
Ensure you don’t look directly into the laser lens on the turret.
The turret is a heavy lifting hazard, be careful when moving.
It contains thorium chloride and beryllium copper which are dangerous materials.

17
Q

CMWS- Precautions

A

EOMS optical window contains Nickel Sulphate (dangerous material if damaged).

18
Q

CMDS- Safety pins and precautions

A

Ensure safety pins are fitted (rear edge of each sponson).
Ensure the Master Armament Safety Switch is set to Safe.
Ensure the late arm switch is set to Safe (flap lowered).
Ensure the aircraft is in designated arming area, pointing in safe direction.
Avoid dispenser line of fire when approaching aircraft.
DCDU display may indicate zero but misfired flares may still be in the magazine.

19
Q

Flare handling precautions.

A

Handle in well ventilated area.
Always point base of flare in a safe direction.
Discharge body static.
Don’t strike the impulse cartridge.
Don’t remove the squib from misfired flare.

20
Q

IRCM- Safety distance and precautions.

A

Personnel 4m.
After system shut down - don’t touch the transmitters for a minimum of 55 minutes (they get very hot).
The system requires very high voltages (4000V/800A in EMI filter & 1500V in transmitters)- Lethal.
IR source lamp contains caesium (which can cause serious burns, spontaneously ignites in contact with moisture can explode in contact with oxidizing materials)

21
Q

Traffic Advisory System- Safety distance

A

Personnel- 0.4m

22
Q

AC/DC Lethal Voltages-

A

30V AC
50V DC
