An agreed specification that sets out precise criteria to ensure the reliably and quality of a product or service.
Who regulates standards?
British Standards Institution (BSI)
For Europe it is the European Committee for Standardisation
Are standards voluntary?
Yes, however some laws and regulations refer to standards making them compulsory
What does the BSI Kitemark tell consumers?
That the product has been tested against nationally recognised standards
Which symbol is the manufacturers self-declaration that the product meets minimum requirements?
The Conformité Européene (CE) Symbol
What factors must all Children’s products consider?
- They mustn’t have any choking hazards
- They mustn’t contain materials that could melt/ catch on fire 🔥
- Dyes, paints and inks must not contain harmful substances or allergens
- Fastening must be safe and easy to use 👕
