Safety Flashcards
Review safety features and tips.
Smoke Detector
- Test frequently, e.g., before each trip, weekly
- Uses 9 volt battery - change once a year
- Located on ceiling near sliding door
Occupant Cargo Carrying Capacity (OCCC)
The tire and information label located on the driver side door pillar states the OCCC, which for this specific vehicle is 1,530 lbs. There is a similar label on the passenger side.
Fire Extinguisher
There is “ABC” type near the sliding door that will extinguish flammable liquids, electrical fires, and trash and wood fires. Inspect at least once a month.
LP/Carbon Monoxide Detector
Located near the floor on the driver side ottoman, detects liquid propane, carbon monoxide and other gases heavier than air. The detector is power by the coach battery. The 12 volt battery disconnect switch must be ON. The LP/CO detector will sound when there is low coach battery voltage. Test the detector before each trip.
Generator
Don’t submerge the generator in water. Be careful it hangs low to the ground.
LP Gas Shut Off Valve
Make sure the LP shutoff valve is turned OFF before driving the vehicle.
Refueling - Gasoline
Before refueling at a gasoline station make sure that the LP valve is shut OFF and that pilot lights have been extinguished. Warning - there is LP gas in the lines.
Refueling - LP Gas
The propane tank valve must be closed and all pilot lights and appliances, along with igniters must be turned OFF during refueling. Do not fill more than 80%.
Appliances
It is not safe to use them to heat the interior of campervan.
TV
Make sure the flat screen television is locked into place before traveling.
GFCI Outlet
A GFCI outlet on the driver side ottoman provides protection against line-to-ground electrical shock. The outlets on this circuit are the exterior, kitchen and rear bench receptacles. A separate GFCI outlet for the microwave and fridge are in the cabinet above the Blu-ray player.
Vehicle Ground Clearance
The campervan has underside holding tanks. Be careful when driving on uneven or poorly maintained roads.
Seating
Only the forward facing seats with seat belts are to be used when the campervan is in motion.
