What is the role of the Hot Work Sentry?

A

Checks the work area & surrounding compartments before work
After work has been the sentry must remain in the vicinity for a minimum of 20 minutes checking for fire/heat damage
After a further 30 minutes the sentry is to carry out another inspection of the area and then sign the Welding Log
The Officer Of the Day / Office Of the Watch (OOD/OOW) and the Duty Marine Sentry is not to leave the area of welding/burning until after the inspection is carried out at the 30 minute interval.
