A
- Disclosure and Barring System
- Works with police to help safeguard adults and children
- Prevents unsuitable people from working with vulnerable adults and children

DBS Check Process
A
- Step 1: The employer gets an application form from DBS or an organization registered to access DBS checks
- Step 2: The employer gives the application form to the applicant to fill out and return with the documents that prove their ID
- Step 3: The Employer gives the completed application form to DBS or the registered organization
- Step 4: DBS sends a certificate to the applicant and the employer asks to see this
- Step 5: The employer can check the status of a DBS certificate online

Standard DBS Check
A
- Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings

Enhanced DBS Check
A
- Includes the same as the standard check
- Also includes any additional information that is held by the local police that is considered relevant to the role being applied for

- Includes the same as the enhanced checks
- Also includes a check of the DBS barred Lists
