Components of Defibrillator
1 - Defibrillator pad cable connection
2 - LED display screen
3 - Shock delivery button
4 - On/Off button
5 - Ready indicator light
6 - Speaker
7 - USB port for data download
8 - Battery compartment cover
9 - Battery compartment latch
10 - Menu select buttons (soft keys)
Procedure for removal/install of battery
1 - Ensure unit is turned off and battery not expired
2 - Unclip latch by pulling compartment out and remove cover
3 - Pressing tab on the battery pack
4 - Align tab of the new battery pack with the finger access on left side of battery compartment
5 - Place battery into compartment
6 - Press edge of battery til it clicks into place
7 - Replace cover and clip into place
8 - Follow prompts til “Unit OK”
Manual self test
If unit doesn’t auto self test , press and hold ON/OFF button for 5 sec.
Indication of Red cross on defib
Indicates unit is not ready
Troubleshooting red cross
Repeat BIT - if remains defective remove from operational use
Contact EMS works officer at FS01
Full battery
Low battery
300 shocks @ 200J
9 shocks @ 200J
Energy levels (Joules)
Adult - shocks@ 200J
Paeds - Joules dependent on chest depth determined by unit
Items to check in SAED (4)
- Adequate quality pads - exp. date, no tears
- Cables - not damaged
- Connector pins - not damaged
- Pads pre-connected to unit ready for operation

0 to 8 years old - less than 25kg
SAED Decon
Don PPC/PPE
Wipe off contaminants at scene using clean wipes
Dispose wipes in biohazard bag
Ensure pad cables and battery lid in place to protect sockets
Wipe down unit with warm soapy water and dry unit
Disinfect with either isoprpyl alcohol or virkon solution
