Sacral- important nerves
Sciatic( largest nerve in body; splits to common fibular and tibial nerves just above knee)
- Common fibular( superficial and deep branches)
- Tibial ( including Sural and planter branches)
Superior and inferior gluteal
Sacral- origin( from ventral rami)
L4-L5 and S1-S4
Sacral- Sciatic- body area served
Lower trunk and posterior surface of thigh ( hip extensors and knee flexors)
Sacral - sciatic- result of damage to plexus or its nerves
Inability to extend hip and flex knee; sciatica
Sacral- common fibular( superficial and deep branches) - body area served
Lateral aspect of leg and foot
Sacral- common fibular( superficial and deep branches) - result of damage to plexus or its nerves
Footdrop- inability to dorsiflex foot
Sacral- tibial( including Sural and plantar branches)- body area served
Posterior aspect of leg and foot
Sacral- tibial( including Sural and plantar branches)-result of damage to plexus or its nerves
Inability to plantar flex and invert foot; shuffling gait
Sacral- superior and inferior gluteal- body area served
Gluteus muscles of hip
Sacral- superior and inferior gluteal- result of damage to plexus or its nerves
Inability to extend hip ( Maximus) or abduct and medially rotate thigh ( Medius)
