sacral plexus Flashcards
What forms the sacral plexus
anterior primary rami of L4, L5, S1-3, and part of L4
contributions from L4 and L5 are by way of
lumbosacral trunk
the plexus forms on the anterior side of the
piriformis
What actions do the quadratus femoris and gemellus inferior contribute to
lateral rotation and adduction of thigh
what action does the obturator internus and gemellus superior carry out
abduction and lateral rotation
Pudendal nerve contains fibers from
S2, S3, S4
What branches come off the pudendal nerve in the pudendal canal
inferior rectal, perineal nerve, terminal branch the dorsal nerve of the penis/clit
Where do the inferior rectal nerves carry sensory information from
skin around the anus and inferior 2/3 of the anal canal
the inferior rectal nerves give motor supply to
external anal sphincter
The perineal nerve branches into deep and superficial branches what muscles does the deep branch supply
External anal sphincter, bulbospongiosus, ischiocavernosus, superficial transverse perineus
the superficial branch of the perineal nerve is sensory to
posterior scrotum, urethral mucosa and the bulb of the penis (MALES)
labium majus, external urethral orifice and vestibule (Female)
what is the terminal branch of the pudendal nerve
dorsal nerve of the penis/clit
the dorsal nerve supplies what muscles
deep transverse perineus + urethral sphincter muscles
the dorsal nerve also carries sensory fibers from (male)
corpus cavernosum, glans penis +skin covering penis
the dorsal nerve also carries sensory fibers from (females)
corpus cavernosum, clitorus
