The capacity of earth to maintain life. Where we preserve the availability of resources, and conserve the current resources we have.

This is obtaining knowledge and understanding through actively engaging in activities in the environment. Forms relationships with the outdoors.

Factors affecting outdoor experiences

Socioeconomic status
An individuals family or social position based on income, education and occupation
can influence the type of activity a person has access to
Positive - A person of high SES who may have brand-new surfboard and full-length wetsuit could surf all year round
Negative - person of low SES who may have to borrow and old surfboard and only has a pair of board shorts, so they can only enjoy surfing in warm weather
Physical Activity
the ability to perform an physical act, contrasting with mental ability.This relates to OE as some activities may be near impossible due to safety.
