Cloud computing
Storing data in a remote location, using an internet connection to transfer data.
Advantage of Cloud computing
Decrease the amount of software licensing and installation required
Can access files from most locations with a secure internet connection, this enable great efficiency in the workplace
Disadvantage of Cloud computing
Security needs to be constantly updated and maintained
It may be hard to monitor who has gained access and manipulated files
Without internet it wouldnt work
Data integrity
The degree to which a data is correct. Is it trustworthy?
RATCAR
Correctness: Values are correct and represent something real
Authenticity: Not faked in any way. Comes from a reliable source
Reasonableness: Data are in an expected range – e.g. 30/02/21 is not a reasonable date
Relevance: Does it relate to the topic? Acquired data must be useful to the business.
Accuracy: Includes clarity, consistency, completeness (the 3 C’s)- The data must be correct
Timeliness: Is the data up to date and available when needed?
Ethics issues
Behaving in ways that are based on our morale and accepted standards.
Disaster recovery plan (DRP)
A document that tells an organization what steps are needed to restore the company operations.
Wired network
Uses cables to connect devices, such as a laptop or computer, to the internet or another network.
Wireless
Allows devices to stay connected to the network, but roam untethered to any wires.
Data security
Firewall, Encryption, Access privilege, Access log and passwords
Security measures
Zoned, biometrics, barrier technique, backing up, shredding and electricity supply protection
