Q

TECS/NCIC hits are referred to Secondary. The Secondary procedures for TECS/NCIC hits vary, depending on the record, but generally the following steps will apply:

A
  • Perform system queries for:
    -Referral reason.
    -Previous encounters and travel history.
    -Other relevant information.
  • Verify identity and determine citizenship.
  • Verify positive match to the record. Computer systems such as the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) and IDENT can be used to verify if the subject is a match to the record.
  • If negative match, get supervisory approval to create Primary Lookout Override (PLOR) and release.
  • If positive match, refer to hard Secondary.
