What is effective communication?
Effective communication means transmitting and receiving information clearly and actively with others in a way that is effective and consistent with organizational objectives.
- Transmitting something (info, request, message)
- For a specific purpose (conscious or unconscious)
What are aspects to consider when communicating with someone?
- The other (who is he, what affects him, “his glasses”, etc.)

What is active listening?
Conscious and persistent attempt to grasp the other person’s ideas and feelings
Goal: Help people understand the situation and overcome their difficulties*.
What do the best listeners do?
- They are not silent, constructively challenge and demonstrate that they are following the conversation
- Are constructive: help improve self-esteem
