What tense does “kua” state?
Action has started, is in progress, or has been completed
The baby has gone to sleep

What tense does “ka” state?
Indicates start of a new action or state - what happens next in a sequence of actions
Saying what happened, happens, or what could happen
Next word will be a verb
What tense does “I” state?
Past tense. Used before words to indicate the action is in the past
Harley washed the dishes
I horoi a Harley I ngā rīhi
Using “I” as an object marker shows what?
Indicates the following word is the object / thing / person having the action done upon it.
“I” will indicate a ‘one-way’ action
Using “ki” as an object marker shows what?
“Ki” translates as “to / at” and can indicate movement
“Ki” can also indicate a ‘two-way’ action
