RV Flashcards
TAPSE
Tricuspid annulus plane systolic exertion
- measured on 4 chamber view lateral
TAPSE measures what?
Moving towards the Apex from an diastole to end-systole provides measure of longitudinal RV contraction
TAPSE (normal)
> = 1.7 cm on M mode
Reduced when RV dysfunction is present
RV size
Severely dilated > LV
Moderately dilated = LV
Mild dilated large but < LV
– Best evaluated from subcostal window
- upper reference size for RV vasal diameter is 4.2 cm.
Elevated RV pressure versus volume overload on septum
– pressure = both systole and diastole.
– volume = flattening, mostly diastole.
RV enlargement
- left sided heart disease.
– congenital heart disease.
– Valve regurgitation
– left to right shunt.
– sinus venosus ASD
– partial anomalous pulmonary venous return
Tissue Doppler normal
Peak systolic velocity
S’ >10 cm/s
Right atrial pressure
-obtained from IVC
