Causes for Febraury’s revolution

A

WWI: He became the head of the army, so he was blamed of all the failures in the war. Futhermore, by moving to the front, he left Alexandra, the Tzarina, and Rasputing in charge. They were both unpopular as she was German and he was seen as a pervert.

Economy: Farming-based economy. Subsistence farming caused lots of famines over the years. Russia was industrialised later than the western powers and the bad communication and transportation system limited economi growth

Authoritarism: The Tzar was believed to be chosen by God and he refused to share power with the Duma, which he created after the Febraury Revolution and Bloody Sunday in 1905.

Social: the living conditions of the population were really bad. They had to share rooms and work for many hours. This led to many protests, such as the ones in Petrograd, in which hundreds of thousands of people protested against the conditions
