industrialization and over population in rural areas of the st Laurent valley
what helped people move from the country to the city?
the rail network
how come people moved to the cities?
the factories needed workers so they would move and have a better job
explain what the working class neighbourhoods were like?
close to factories, air is polluted, places were small and dirty, created diseases
why was the public health act created?
because the working class people were in such a bad environment, people started dying quicker and earlier. so they decided to study the causes of these sicknesses and find ways to prevent them
why did many french canadian farmers move to the USA?
they were attracted to the industries there

because they thought that the development of these regions would solve an unemployment problem and stop the emigration

the natives were kicked off their land and their way of life was disrupted

because clearing the land was hard, there was a harsh climate, low crops

it was a school of thought. they rejected the industrial world and valued farming.

family, French language, catholicism
