A
The Canadian Human Rights Act protects the individual against discrimination on the grounds of race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, family status, mental or physical disability, or pardoned conviction by any agencies that fall under federal jurisdiction.

Protects people from discrimination when they are employed by, or receive services from:
- The federal government
- First Nations governments
- Private companies that are
federally regulated – ie.
banks, transport companies,
and telecommunications or
broadcasters
