It is filtered with activated charcoal and then blended with superfine cane spirit before undergoing a 2nd maturation period in oak vessels for a non-specified time. Following this, it may be filtered again to become a white rum or be blended and re-barrelled for a third maturation period to become dark rum.

No. The distilleries there can also produce molasses based rums as well. These are sometimes called Rhum industriel and tehre is a high ester version called Grand Arome.
