How many players should badminton have?
Badminton can be played with one or two players on one side of the court.
Where was the game of badminton originated?
It was originated in England and it closely resembles Pickelball and tennis in regards to strategies, rules, and overall game play.
When the game starts how should a player hit?
The player must start off with an underhand serve hit diagonally across from the one side of the court to the other.
What is the objective of the game?
Both teams objective is to rally back and forth using various shots until one side makes a hitting error or a winning shot.
How do you win the game?
The team that earns the 21 points and wins by 2 points or more is declared the winner.
Explain the singles court.
The singles court dimensions consist of the narrow sidelines and the farthest back boundary line.
Explain the doubles court.
The doubles court dimension consist of the wide sidelines and the farthest back line. Except during a serve, the boundary lines are the wide sideline and the closest back line.
What should and can a server do during an underhand serve?
During an underhand serve, the server must have both of their feet behind the short service line. The server may choose to use a long singles serve (forehand) or a short doubles serve (backhand) that has to land across the short service line.
If the serve should fall short of the short service line, the serve is no good.
However If the birdie is played by the opposing team the rally must continue until an error or a winning shot is made.
What happens every time there is a serve?
Every time there is a serve, there is a point to be won, regardless of who is serving.
Serves touching the net and falling within proper boundaries are legal.
What happens in both singles and doubles?
Both players will only get one serve per side. If the servers score is even he must serve from the right service court. If the servers score is odd he must serve from the left service court.
What is a service fault?
Is when the server steps on the short service line before the birdie is contacted; if the birdie is contacted above the waist; if the racket head is not below the hand; if their feet are not completely in the correct service court; and if the serve lands in the wrong service court.
What is a playing fault?
Is when the birdie touches the ceiling, wall, standards, or any player; if the birdie doesn’t pass over the net; if any player makes contact with the birdie before it crosses the net; if there is more than 1 hit per side; if the racket or player makes contact with the net.
What is a clear?
A shot hit high and deep into the opponents court.
What is a drive?
A shot hit fast and hard that flies straight over the net.
What is a drop shot?
A shot that just barely makes it over the top of the net and lands inside the short service line, it can be a net drop or an overhead drop shot.
